Road To Bali

George and Harold are two vaudevillians forced to hightail it out of Australia by a young woman's overprotective father. The wisecracking duo end up on the island of Bali, where they soon go to work for Prince Arok -- and become smitten with the princess, Lalah.

But when George and Harold discover that Arok intends to steal a treasure belonging to Lalah, they try to foil his greedy plans. Will they win the princess' heart if they succeed?

The Last Time I Saw Paris

Based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald story "Babylon Revisited," this epic romance is a captivating blend of Parisian expatriate high society and the struggles in post-WWII Europe. When war writer and veteran Charles Wills (Van Johnson) meets the lovely and restless Helen Ellswirth (Elizabeth Taylor) in Paris after the war, the two strangers instantly fall in love, basking in the glory of a free Paris. Helen and her father, James Ellswirth (Walter Pidgeon), are eccentric American expatriates living life in high style but always on the brink of going broke.

Charles is captivated with the Ellswirthses' reckless and fun-loving lifestyle, staying out all night, gambling and living life in the glory of the Left Bank artistic society. Charles and Helen get married and have a family, but life becomes more difficult as they continue on with their free-spirited and reckless adventure.

Elizabeth Taylor is glorious as the lovely young ingenue Helen, who loves Charles in spite of herself. Her stunning costumes are shot beautifully, contributing to the glorious style of this beautifully rendered epic.

Charade

Lovely Reggie (Audrey Hepburn) is determined to divorce her wealthy, cold, and closed-mouthed husband, but someone throws him from a train before she gets the chance.

Left penniless in Paris with police suspicion resting heavily upon her, Reggie soon realizes she's in serious trouble--her husband stole money from three unscrupulous men, and they want the money back.

Charming and amusing Cary Grant, recalling his screwball comedy days while still remaining manly, comes to Reggie's aid.

But he too has secrets and hidden loyalties. With the bodies piling up and the money nowhere to be found, Grant and Hepburn dash through Paris toward the startling solution.

Agatha Christie-like in its unexpected twists and colorful characters and shimmering with fun and passion, CHARADE is a suspense gem that deserves to be much better known than it is.

The supporting cast, led by Walter Matthau, James Coburn, and George Kennedy, is terrific, the interaction between Hepburn and Grant is an absolute joy, and Stanley Donen's playful direction all combine to make this film a small classic.

Suddenly

A tense, somewhat prescient drama in which Sinatra plays a psychopathic triggerman hired to kill the United States President.

On the way he and his two partners take over a widow's house, which is perfectly situated for an ambush.

After Kennedy's assassination, the film was shelved and Sinatra tried to have the prints destroyed.

Five Corners

A rapist gets out of jail and returns to his old neighborhood in the Bronx, setting off a series of events that bring together his victim, her boyfriend, a pacifist, two wise-cracking cops, an algebra teacher killed by an arrow and other assorted eccentrics.
